Australian tennis player Omar Jasika reveals he had no real role models growing up. However, he adds that Roger Federer was incredibly beautiful to look at and believes the Swiss should be considered the greatest tennis player of all time.
Jasika, 25, has enjoyed quite a successful junior career, winning the men’s singles and doubles titles at the 2014 US Open. “I didn’t have an idol, although I loved watching Federer, he’s amazing.”
said Jasika. When asked who the GOAT was, Jasika named Federer. “I have to choose Roger,” Jasika replied. Five years ago, Jasika posted a selfie with Federer on the training ground. Ahead of Federer’s final at the 2017 Australian Open, Jasika was given the honor of acting as the Swiss’s training partner.
Jasika was delighted with the experience, as he wrote in his Instagram post: “Nice to warm up with the king before his final tonight. Good luck.” Federer has not played since Wimbledon 2021 as he is still recovering from knee surgery.
In a recent interview, Federer confirmed that he is focused on giving tennis one last chance. “Time will tell how I want to deal with how many times I still look for the interest,” Federer told Het Parool.
“Now I think about it sometimes, but not often. My main focus is how to return to tennis. I work on it a lot and I think about it every day. The feeling you have and how you feel after the applause and the I don’t know in advance who will react to cheering.
Novak [Djokovic] also said it: Many of us are nervous before such a parade. We don’t do it every day either, we never get used to it. It remains uncertain while all you have to do is walk around and say a few words.
And I was pretty excited, even though not everyone saw it.”
Müller talks about Roger Federer
Gilles Müller, the former world No. 21 who also defeated Rafael Nadal in the knockout stages of Wimbledon in 2017, gave an interview to Serbian medium Sportklub after a crazy match.
He was questioned by the press and the public mainly about Novak Djokovic’s treatment. “I don’t know what the press thinks about it, but it’s a fact that in a number of tournaments you feel that Rafa or Roger Federer is more popular.
Is that right? I don’t know, everyone is free to support whoever they want, but from a tennis perspective, he’s with both. I agree: sometimes Novak doesn’t get the respect he deserves,” said the Luxembourger.
