Roger Federer returns to his favorite sport after 15 years!

If you were born and raised in Switzerland, chances are you will fall in love with winter sports. Roger Federer was no different, got on skis from an early age and has been enjoying it ever since. The 20-time Grand Slam winner couldn’t afford to ski for the past 15 years, staying away from them to avoid injury and fully concentrating on his tennis career.

Roger retired last September and this winter seemed like the perfect time to get back on skis and enjoy. The Swiss shared a video with his fans showing off his skills and having fun on the mountain.

Instead of competing in Melbourne, Federer can finally take the schedule he likes and enjoy it with his family and friends. Roger ended his incredible career at last year’s Laver Cup in London when he played his last match alongside his amazing friend Rafael Nadal.

Roger ended the 2019 season in 3rd place behind his closest rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Roger Federer is back on skis after a 15-year absence

Despite turning 38 in August, Federer has played at a high level this year, conquering his 28th place.

and last Masters 1000 crown in Miami. Also, the Swiss had two match points on serve in that epic Wimbledon final against Novak. He squandered them, dropping the crucial tiebreak at 12-12 to miss out on the ninth Wimbledon trophy.

Roger got off to a strong start in 2020, reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open. He lost to Djokovic in straight sets and announced knee surgery a few weeks later. The Swiss maestro required another surgery in May, ending his season and hoping for a fresh start in 2021.

Roger worked hard on his comeback despite setbacks, stepping onto the pitch in Doha in March 2021, playing two games and enjoying another break until May. Federer suffered an early defeat in Geneva and went to Roland Garros with no form or matches in his legs.

Roger found his rhythm again and with three wins in Paris he reached the round of 16. Pleased with his progress, Federer retired before the game against Matteo Berrettini to rest his knee for the popular grass season.

Roger saw his earliest exit from Halle after falling to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round, unwell and knowing his chances of winning Wimbledon were slim.

The veteran stopped the clock on his 22nd and final appearance at the All England Club. The eight-time champion toppled Adrian Mannarino, Richard Gasquet, Cameron Norrie and Lorenzo Sonego to advance to the quarterfinals as the oldest player of the Open era!

Roger faced Hubert Hurkacz and suffered his worst Wimbledon defeat after running out of energy. The Pole defeated the Swiss 6-3, 7-6, 6-0 in Federer’s first 6-0 at Majors since the 2008 Roland Garros final.

Roger underwent the third surgery a few weeks later with no results. Struggling to train injury-free, the Swiss decided to retire at the Laver Cup last September to turn a new page and spend time with his family.
