Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal’s emotional dedications to Andy Murray
Below are each of the messages from the Big Three for Andy Murray after his farewell to professional tennis:
- Djokovic: “We all hoped this moment would never come, but here we are.
I want to congratulate you on your fantastic career. You won Grand Slam tournaments, you were number one in the world, you won two gold medals at the Olympic Games and the Davis Cup. What you have achieved is incredible.
We have known each other for a long time, we were eleven years old when we first met on the court. We had great matches against each other, a great rivalry. We competed in the finals of all the Grand Slam tournaments.
You brought the Wimbledon title to the UK after 77 years, unfortunately against me in the final. However, it was a historic moment that I shared with you, I am proud to have been part of this event.
You should be proud of the incredible resilience and strength you had, and what an inspiration you were to all of us. After all the things you had to overcome, you proved to everyone that you can always keep going and never give up.
“I wish you and your family all the best. Goodbye my friend,” were the emotional words of the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

- Roger Federer: “Hello Andy.
Congratulations on your incredible career. Wimbledon and US Open champion, Davis Cup champion, Olympic champion. You achieved many other things, winning many Masters 1000s and becoming number one.
Sir Andy Murray. One of the best careers for a great person. Your hip and your body did not allow you to give what you wanted in the end, but you were a source of inspiration for me and for many other tennis players.
“I respect you a lot. I loved playing against you, even though I suffered some tough defeats. Congratulations on everything you have achieved. Enjoy this moment and I am sure we will meet on the way,” shared the “genius” from Basel.

- Rafael Nadal: “Hello Andy.
I know that this is your last day as a professional on the Tour. Having to make this video saddens me, because you are one of the players who were most loved in the locker room for your character, your charisma and the way you behaved personally with me and with the other tennis players.
It was nice to be rivals and good colleagues. We have shared many amazing moments together and I want to congratulate you for everything you have done. You have achieved your dream of becoming one of the best. I wish you the best in your future with your family.
Have fun. I hope we stay in touch. I really wish you the best, my friend.”
said Rafael Nadal in the videos shared by the ATP.
