Roger Federer is training with Dominic Stricker in Dubai

The semi-final, lost in three sets against Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open 2020, remains Roger Federer’s last game. The Swiss champions had to miss the rest of last season due to a serious injury to his right knee.

An injury that required help from an operation performed in June that nonetheless produced a positive result. Federer’s return to the field was planned for the beginning of 2021, in particular the Swiss should have played alongside Stan Wawrinka at the ATP Cup and the Australian Open, but various reasons prompted him to make a different decision.

The 20-time Grand Slam tournament winner chose not to travel to Australia for 100% physical rest and not to spend too much time outside of his family. All tennis players involved in the start of the season had to agree to travel two weeks before the scheduled tournament in order to comply with the 14-day quarantine required by the local authorities.

New updates on Federer came from the young talent Dominic Stephan Stricker, who won Roland Garros Junior in both singles and doubles by losing just one set in both categories.

Stricker and his idol posted some photos on Instagram and wrote: “Three wonderful weeks. I really enjoyed every minute in Dubai. What a great start to the season. Now I can’t wait to play some tournaments.

Many thanks to Roger Federer and his entire team for these excellent training sessions. ”

Federer therefore trains in Dubai until he is back on the field.

Meanwhile, Ivan Ljubicic, one of his coaches, wanted to praise him for everything he has done for tennis. “I remember when Pete Sampras won his 14th Grand Slam, people said,” Nobody will ever get that number “

Then came Roger Federer, who was the first to break his record. He took tennis into uncharted territory. The same is true in football for Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who score a string of goals that no one thought were possible.

I absolutely admire these athletes for being able to do things that have never been done before. “Photo credit: Dominic Stricker Instagram
