Roger Federer talks about his return to the Laver Cup 2023 as a special guest
Roger Federer says he is “very much looking forward” to returning to this year’s Laver Cup in Vancouver as a guest. Federer, 42, retired from professional tennis after last year’s Laver Cup in London.
This week, organizers of the Laver Cup announced their plan to honor Federer on September 22 – marking the one-year anniversary of the Swiss’ retirement from professional tennis. In Vancouver, Federer will be interviewed by Jim Courier and fans will also have the opportunity to direct their questions to Courier, who will then read them to the Swiss.
Also in Vancouver, the plan is to have some lucky fans next to Federer on the sidelines.
Federer: I’m really looking forward to seeing the Canadian fans at the LC
“I will miss the Laver Cup very much.
That’s also where I played my last match with Rafa, Novak and Murray and they all celebrated my career. It was a beautiful moment. I’m really looking forward to Vancouver and the Laver Cup there. I’ve only heard great things about the city so I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Canadian fans will be, especially with their amazing players.
I definitely believe Team World can do it again. They are already very well represented this year with Fritz, Felix and Tiafoe. I think the Laver Cup experience is unique. I think I spent three full intense days of tennis there, saw the best players in the world, incredible tennis show, amazing experience, amazing venues, beautiful stadiums, everything a tennis lover needs to see once in their life.
I’ll watch front and center so I can be more excited,” Federer said. Last September, Federer experienced a memorable farewell at the Laver Cup. This year, Federer will come to the Laver Cup, but not as a professional player. In any case, it will certainly be great to have Federer in the house.
