“After two knee surgeries and more than a year of rehabilitation, it is important that I listen to my body and make sure not to push myself too hard on my road to recovery,” Federer said in a text posted on his official networks.
“I am happy with my three wins. There is nothing better than the feeling of being back on the slopes,” added the Swiss, who starred in a tough three-and-a-half-hour match against German Dominik Koepfer in the previous round.
Federer, current number eight in the ATP rankings, was due to play tomorrow against Italian Matteo Berrettini for the round of 16.
After defeating Koepfer, the Swiss had questioned his presence in the Grand Slam French and finally decided to get off to arrive in the best physical condition at Wimbledon.
