Roger Federer can do whatever he wants at any time

Former Grand Slam champion Juan Carlos Ferrero says it’s absolutely impressive what Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were able to accomplish and how long they managed to stay on top of the game.

The Big Three marked an era in tennis and are considered the three best players in tennis history. Ferrero, who himself had a very successful career winning a Grand Slam and was ranked No. 1, Ferrero beat Federer three times, Nadal twice and finished on the winning side once against Djokovic.

“I was there to try to find the tactic to play against them, and sometimes I beat them. With Rafa, it was his strength on the pitch; the ball comes to you very heavy, the intensity of every point he plays,” Ferrero said on ATP Tennis Radio, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

“Roger, of course, he can do whatever he wants at any time. They have won most of the matches they have played which is impressive. For Novak, the day he will win the most titles in the future. “

Ferrero: Impressive how long they’ve been strong

Nadal, 35, and Djokovic, 34, are still Grand Slam contenders, while Federer sadly hasn’t played much in the past two years due to knee injuries.

“It’s very difficult to stay at the same intensity week after week. They have been doing this for years. It’s one of the things that impresses me the most,” Ferrero added. Over the past few years, the Big Three have made some adjustments to their schedule, with a focus on Grand Slam tournaments.

“Playing at the end of your career less tournaments, but playing very well (the tournaments you play), I think Rafa, Roger and Novak are doing well. They play 10 to 12 tournaments a year, and they have the Grand Slam as their goal. They can play at a high level in those few tournaments, which is very difficult to do,” Ferrero concluded.
