Legendary tennis player Roger Federer announced that he would retire at the end of this month. His appearance in the Laver Cup will be the last in an ATP tournament.
Federer has announced that he will hang up his racquet after appearing in the Laver Cup, scheduled for September 23-25. The 41-year-old athlete will end his career in high-level tennis after 24 years.
The Swiss tennis player has been absent from the top competition since Wimbledon 2021 ago. A third knee operation forced him to retire from the games and now he has decided to retire.

“The message from my body has been clear lately. I have played more than 1,500 games in over 24 years,” Federer’s official statement read.
“Now I have to figure out when it’s time to end my competitive career. In tennis, I love you and I will never leave you,” he added.
One of the most successful tennis players in the world, Federer has won 20 Grand Slam titles. Only Rafael Nadal (22) and Novak Djokovic (21) have collected the most tennis titles.
Roger Federer He made his debut at the age of 16 in 1998. He went on to win his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2003 and still holds the record for most titles in the open era with eight wins.
“This is a bitter decision because I will miss everything the Tour has given me. But at the same time there is so much to celebrate,” Federer said.
“I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world. I have been given a special talent to play tennis and I am doing it at a level I never imagined would last longer than I thought possible.”
