“Roger Federer and Serena Williams: Only Tennis Players in Forbes’ Top 50 Athletes of 2020”

Forbes released the list of the 50 athletes who earned the most money in the world in the last and it is surprising to see only two tennis players. And who are they? Roger Federer y Serena Williams, who retired from professional tennis last year, are the only players in this sport that make up the list published by the renowned site. Federer occupies the ninth position with more than 95 million dollars total, almost all of them won by his endorsement contracts. While Serena barely makes the list, ranking 49th with just over 45 million in earnings.

The fact that almost 100% of Federer and Serena’s earnings in their last year as professionals have been from endorsement deals suggests that they won’t be leaving this list anytime soon. Other players are not listed as Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal, Iga Swiatek o Carlos Alcaraz. Neither Naomi Osaka, who was the female athlete who earned the most money in the world in recent years. But this season, out of the circuit due to pregnancy, she falls off the list. In fact, Serena is the only woman on the list that they top Cristiano Ronaldo y Lionel Messi.
