After a loss on the European stage, Maaseik started again this afternoon with a victory in the national competition. The Limburgers had their hands full with Borgworm, but won 2-3 in the end. Later that evening, Roeselare lost a test to Guibertin.

Maaseik was unable to cope with Poland’s strong side at Projekt Warszawa in his Champions League debut this week. In a difficult game they suffered the strongest law and the score went to 3-0.

But of course there was no time to worry about it. Today the Limburgers faced a new challenge in Borgworm.

It didn’t start well, as the home team claimed the first set. After a great response from Maaseik, the 3rd set also went to Borgworm.

But eventually the Limburgers turned the situation around. After 22-25 in the fourth set, it became 13-15 in the fifth set overall. Mission accomplished for Maaseik after all.

Something they can’t say tonight in Roeselare. The West Flemish had also played in Europe, so coach Vanmedegael rested many players when they visited Guibertin.

That national champion paid off in cash. They lost 3-1 and thus lost the top spot in the rankings to Achel.
