Given the sanctions that the Attorney General’s Office has imposed on Rodolfo Hernández and that could definitively remove him from the race for the Governor of Santander, the former presidential candidate will request precautionary measures before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), arguing that his rights are being violated. politicians.

According to information from La FM, Hernández’s defense also presented an appeal to the National Electoral Council to review the decision that has him, for now legally, out of the electoral contest of the regional elections.

The defense of the former candidate argues that the sanction of the Public Ministry ““It is violating their rights to personal integrity, judicial guarantees, political rights and the right to equality before the law and judicial protection.”

If the appeal presented to the IACHR is successful, Hernández would obtain the same benefits that the then mayor of Bogotá, Gustavo Petro, achieved, since the American Convention on Human Rights reminded Colombia that no administrative authority can sanction popularly elected people.
