Two Ruthenian athletes were recently in Tours for this beautiful national meeting which they succeeded.
The last weekend was placed under the sign of youth, in Tours, during the national final of the Pointes d’Or. A competition where Noélie Merle is ranked 41st, beating three personal bests. His club partner, Thomas Hugounenq, finished 28th, also breaking three personal bests. It had been a long time since Stade Rodez had been present at this great meeting. Noélie had chosen the length. The young Ruthenian athlete finished 9th in Final 2 with a jump measured at 4m 87 which allowed her to collect 34 points. In the 120 meters, final 2, she sets a brilliant time of 15”87 and beats her personal best, achieving the 10th perf of the day which brings her 34 points. Finally, in the triple jump, final 3, she won thanks to a trial measured at 11.14 m. Personal record broken and 38 points in the basket. In total, the Ruthénoise achieves a score of 106 points, which earned her a personal best match and a very good 41st place out of 122.
Personal record broken
Thomas started his journey with the 1000m which he finished in 8th place in a time of 2’48”2, manual time only unfortunately, but a personal best and 38 points capitalized. At length in Final 6 with a jump measured at 5m81 for 35 points and 8th place and completed his triathlon with a great victory in Final 2 of the 200 m hurdles covered in 28”18, personal best and 36 points. A performance that allows him to total 109 points and equal his record. He finished in 28th place out of 118 ranked athletes.
The two athletes will keep fond memories of this Touraine meeting.
Full box for cadets and juniors
They will hardly have time to recover before continuing with the regional training camp in the Occitanie team to compete in the French League Cup in Saint-Etienne. They will be joined by Yvi Robert. During this time, there were three of them in the Languedoc rain in Nîmes to participate in the regional cadets and juniors. All three come back medalists. Léonie Chabbert took 3rd place in the cadet 800m with a time of 2’26”51 which is her new personal best. The second female present was Eva Rispal, retained in the junior javelin throw which she also finished in 3rd place with a throw measured at 26.40 m. Finally, the junior Léo Lacombe, qualified in the 400 m hurdles, takes a very good second place with a time of 59”67. A lot of luck for these three athletes who have completed an excellent season.
