The magistrate has a concept drawn up for Rodaustraße. One of the goals is to slow down traffic.

Local traffic problems in Rödermark, which have already called various citizens’ initiatives on the scene, were discussed in the city council on Tuesday evening.

The Free Voters had applied for traffic calming on Rodaustraße and at the intersection of Landesstraße 3097 and Frankfurter Straße, the so-called Kipferl-Kreuzung. However, an amendment by the FDP was decided. The magistrate should therefore have a concept drawn up, including a cost forecast, as to how a “decelerating” lane can be achieved on Rodaustraße – possibly with temporary bollards in the traffic area.

At the Kipferl intersection, a roundabout solution should be strongly recommended instead of the traffic light, including a cost forecast for the city and a rough schedule. In addition, the municipality of Hessen Mobil is to push for a crossing aid for cyclists and pedestrians over the L 3097 at the level of the sewage treatment plant access. Michael Gensert (CDU) dared to doubt that the citizens concerned are satisfied with the proposed solutions. However, neither the city council nor the city could make promises. The competence lies with the state and thus with Hessen Mobil. “We can check, but we can’t do more,” he said. “In the end we won’t have the decisive word. We have to pay for everything we order on the cake, ”warns Mayor Jörg Rotter (CDU). Something is promised that the city will not be able to implement in the end. Nevertheless, the decision was unanimous. On Friday evening, the building committee also met with representatives from specialist authorities and participants in the round table on “Transport Relief in Rödermark” on the subject.
