Roda JC Kerkrade drew 1-1 against De Graafschap. Five minutes before the end of the match, the visitors leveled the score.
In match round 34, Roda JC took on De Graafschap in its own stadium. The first goal attempt came after just one minute of play. Sami Ouaissa reached Vaclav Sejk in the penalty area. The striker took the ball and shot from the turn. Unfortunately, goalkeeper Thijs Jansen made a good save to prevent a goal. We didn’t have to wait long for a goal. A few minutes later, Ouaissa put the ball through the defense towards Enrique Peña Zauner. The wing attacker remained calm and pushed the ball, with his left, behind goalkeeper Jansen.
In the remainder of the first half we saw two headers from De Graafschap. For example, Ralf Seuntjens headed far wide and Calvin Raatsie made a save on a header from Baser Önal. Ould-Chikh tried for Roda JC, but unfortunately his shot was blocked. Shortly afterwards there was a much bigger opportunity for Önal. The attacker seemed to slide in a cross from Jeffry Fortes. Luckily he missed the ball.
After a phase of pressure from the visitors, Peña Zauner was given the ball on a silver platter. A return pass from Lion Kaak was too short and the Venezuelan intervened. Unfortunately, he then fell short of the goalkeeper to finish the ball.
At the beginning of the second half, Roda JC got into trouble twice. In quick succession, Önal was able to fire on the goal. The first attempt was a prey for Raatsie, the second shot went narrowly wide. The Limburgers themselves also showed up in the initial phase. A strong action by Ould-Chikh ended with a cross that just missed reaching a fellow player.
After an hour of play there was a great chance for Peña Zauner, but the attacker missed Fortes and therefore did not shoot. On the other hand, Raatsie was important by clearing a cross for an opponent. The tension increased in the final phase of the match. Five minutes before the end of the match, things went wrong for Roda JC. A corner kick from Önal was headed in by Willemsen via Raatsie.
There was no more scoring in injury time and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
