Recently, Electronic Arts raised the price tag of the EA Play subscription, and since the others in the gaming industry like to follow the example of one company, it was only a matter of time before Rockstar Games and Take-Two would step up the price of their own subscription service.
Until now, GTA+ was available for six euros (approx. HUF 2,400) per month, but as a result of the price increase, you now have to pay eight (ie approx. HUF 3,200) per month. It can be said that this is not such a large amount, but if we look at it as a percentage, it is indeed a 33% price increase. The increase is the same in the United States (8 dollars/month instead of 6), but in the United Kingdom it is 40% (7 pounds instead of 5). And there is no possibility to pay in advance for several months or even a year, which usually results in a discount, because Take-Two only provides a monthly subscription.
GTA+ launched in March 2022, just over two years ago. In this, Grand Theft Auto Online players get extra money, cars, cosmetic items, and events only available to subscribers, so Rockstar and Take-Two not only bring home a lot of money from GTA Online with Shark cards, but also with a subscription on top. But that wasn’t much, and that’s why Take-Two finally decided that some titles from Rockstar’s previous games can still be accessed on a frequent basis.
These games are currently available within GTA+: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (Xbox, PlayStation), Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Android, iOS), Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (Android, iOS ), Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare DLC (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series). Bully and LA Noire will also join the service later this year.
Well, who will be the next to announce a price increase after this? Sony will not be among them: they significantly (by up to 35%) raised PlayStation Plus prices last year.
