If we talk about Rockstar Games in the past decade, it seems to be a monument of quality with product results that rarely disappoint. Almost every product that appears with a star symbol that they carry always has a unique charm, regardless of whether it comes from a giant franchise like GTA or not. But unfortunately, this image was slightly eroded when products like GTA Trilogy Remaster launched with a quality that even had time to laugh at. Now, their decision to re-release the first Red Dead Redemption to the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch has also drawn considerable negative criticism from fans.
Even though there are groups of gamers who welcome this port without any improvements at all, fans via various social media even in the official trailer for the PS4 and Switch versions of Red Dead Redemption themselves actually end up disappointed. There are two main complaints thrown around. First, the price of USD 50 set by Rockstar despite the fact that this game can be played in 4K format via the Xbox Series X backward compatibility feature, which incidentally is much cheaper. Second? For reasons that are unclear, Rockstar Games skipped the PC version.
Porting Red Dead Redemption to Switch and PS4 actually sparked a negative reaction from fans.
Other complaints also highlight “laziness” where this re-release will simply be released without any upgrades at all, aka just a port and not a remaster / remake project. Meanwhile, in the past, Rockstar and Take Two had talked and boasted about how they were quite anti-policy and just porting steps that they are currently doing.
What do you think of this one situation?
