Recently, the former technical director of Rockstar North, Obbe Vermeij, started a blog in which he began to tell interesting stories about his work at the studio, where he worked from 1995 to 2009. Over the course of several weeks, he talked about secret details about the canceled spy game Agent, discussed a zombie title that the company abandoned due to its “depression,” talked about the deathmatch mode in GTA 3 and laid out a bunch of other secrets.
True, now many of his stories have already been deleted, since Rockstar sent its employee a letter in which he persistently asked him to shut up:
I received a letter from [Rockstar North]. I honestly thought no one would mind me talking about games from 20 years ago, but I was wrong. I was told that I was ruining the mystique of Rockstar or something like that.
This blog isn’t important enough to me to anger my former colleagues in Edinburgh, so I’m winding it down. Perhaps I will leave only a few articles with anecdotes that concern no one but me.
Rockstar Big Brother is watching you!
