Rockets want to score points

Lesedauer: ca. 1 Minute

Two games with a trend-setting character are scheduled for EG Diez-Limburg this weekend. The Rockets travel in the Oberliga Nord on Friday (7.30 p.m.) to Krefelder EV and meet the Rostock Piranhas on Sunday (6.30 p.m.) on their home Heckenweg. Two games in which it would be extremely important to score in the fight for the (pre) play-off places.

The EGDL faces a weekend in the “Red Zone”. In football, this means: you are just short of the opponent’s end zone and have a great chance of scoring points. In the Oberliga-Nord the “red zone” is the table area in which nobody wants to be in the end – from 11th to 14th place. The “green zone” goes to sixth place and means the direct play-off qualification, the “blue” Zone ”stands in the table for ranks 7 to 10 and marks the participants in the pre-playoffs. The EGDL, currently twelfth in the table, meets with Krefeld (11th) and Rostock (14th) on two teams from the direct neighborhood.

The KEV has had two victories so far, won 5-2 in Erfurt and 4-3 against Rostock. Last weekend they only just lost in Hamburg (3: 4 after extra time) and against Halle (3: 4). With one counter in the Hanseatic city, Krefeld (7 points) pushed past the EGDL in the table.

“We need points, especially against our direct competitors,” says Rockets head coach Jeffrey van Iersel. “We will not be able to compete with the full team on Sunday either. Among other things, our captain Daniel Ketter will be absent due to an injury for the next few weeks. Even so, we have to work hard for 60 minutes and never give up. We’ll have a clear game plan and approach it like a play-off game. ”

The situation in Diez on Sunday will be no different when it comes to Rostock. The Piranhas scored their first three in the 7-5 win against Herford last Sunday – after six defeats in a row. “Rostock didn’t have a good start to the season,” says Jeffrey van Iersel. “But they have a lot of quality in the team. However, they have conceded many goals so far – most of them in the league (47). In contrast, we have scored the fewest goals so far (10). It will be an interesting and very close comparison that we absolutely want to win. ”
