Rocketman actor Taron Egerton plays Dutch Tetris explorer in film | NOW

Taron Egerton, known for his portrayal of Elton John in Rocketman, plays in the movie Tetris the Dutchman Henk Rogers. He is the discoverer of the popular video game and his story is being filmed by director Jon S. Baird, reports Deadline Thursday.

Rogers obtained distribution rights to the game in the 1980s, in which blocks fall down and the player must form horizontal rows.

He discovered Tetris in 1988 on a stock exchange. The game was already being distributed in several countries. The original licensee was not honored. Rogers obtained the distribution rights for game consoles together with Nintendo, after which the game became a huge success.

The now 66-year-old Dutchman became good friends with Tetriscreator Alexey Pajitnov. Rogers also remained active in the game industry after that. It is not yet known who will play the role of Pajitnov.

Shooting is scheduled to start in Scotland at the beginning of December. The film is partly financed by Apple.
