“This song reminds me of people without whom this life would be much darker,” says Finķis. “While writing this song, I resolved a conflict within myself, which resulted in the dismantling of my own hard-built ego. Take it easy – this is not rocket science!”
“Rocket Science” is the first song since Finkis’ debut album “Taads slinkums”, which was released last April. In February of this year, Finkis also won the “Golden Microphone” for the best video clip of the year for the song “Love of Self”.
The song “Rocket Science” was created several years ago from materials that Finķis calls the “depression cabinet”. In the cabinet, I keep home demo recordings made during the darkest stages of my life,” says the musician.
Thinking about the overall sound of the song, the producer of the group “Kasetes” Rudolfs Zagorskis was approached, who helped with the synthesizer parts. While working on the form of the song, Finķis together with Rudolph came to the idea that bright vocals were needed, and the timbre of Patricia’s voice seemed to be the most suitable addition to the message and sound of the song. The first recording session of the song took place in Vaidava’s House of Culture. The long-time musical partner of Finkis, Aleksis Luriņš (“PRAGAII”) and Andis Ansons (“Bel Tempo”) also took part in the creation of the song.
Along with the song, its video clip, directed by Eliza Jordan, is also released. “The traditions of pop music videos have accustomed us to stories in which their protagonists often swim in banknotes, drive fancy cars and adorn themselves in gold chains weighing a few kilograms, thus demonstrating their successful and successful lives,” says the director. “In the world created by associates Jurgis Kmin and Aneta Šidlovska, these golden chains adorn a blind dog from a shelter. Meanwhile, the other characters are motivated by illogical actions and reversed clichéd situations – this video story has its own order of things, which is gradually revealed with each viewing.”
As “Delfi” informs the representatives of the musician from “Every Little Thing”, this spring, Finns will be able to meet at several concerts in Latvia – on April 15 at the Culture House “Wiktorija” in Liepaja, on May 6 in Cēsis, “Fonoklub” and on May 13 at “Melno cepurišu” in Jelgava in the ballet”.
