Wetterau Regional Council Darmstadt approves the budget of the Wetterau district

After examining the municipal budget for the year 2021, District President Brigitte Lindscheid describes the financial performance of the Wetteraukreis as “still secured”. However, according to a press release, this does not cause concern for district councilor and finance department head Matthias Walther (CDU).

“In terms of content, this is the best unrestricted approval that we have been able to obtain under the given conditions,” he says. After all, the corona pandemic has shaken up the district finances. Walther is pleased about the approval of the “budget with red numbers” by the Darmstadt Regional Council.

The district benefits “from the economical and forward-looking budget management of the past few years”, so Walther and from the state funds from the Hessenkasse. “A deficit of 14.8 million euros” is planned. “For the years 2022 to 2024 deficits (…) of 19.2 million euros are forecast.” The financial requirement is 41.5 million euros for the planning years 2022 to 2024, in the budget year 2021 30.9 million Euro. The budget balance is to be achieved through reserves.

The RP should give praise for the district levy of 29.6 percent set for 2021, “which means a substantial reduction in the assessment rate by 3.66 percent”.
