The world of heavy metal has lost one of its most emblematic figures with the death of Paul Di’Annoformer vocalist of Iron Maidenat 66 years old. The singer died on October 21, 2024 at his home in Salisbury (England), as confirmed by his family.
Di’Anno, born Paul Andrews, was a key player in the early days of iron maidenleading the band between 1978 and 1981.
His aggressive voice was immortalized in the group’s first two albums, ‘Iron Maiden‘ (1980) y ‘Killers‘ (1981), albums that laid the foundations for the band’s style and New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM).
After leaving Iron Maiden, Di’Anno continued his musical career with projects such as Battlezone y Killersin addition to launching solo albums.
In recent years, despite serious health complications forced to perform in a wheelchair, the singer never stopped performing and staying connected with his fans, performing more than 100 concerts from 2023.
Throughout his life, Di’Anno was known for his rebellious attitude and his lifestyle marked by the intensity of his music. Recently, he had released a compilation album titled ‘The Book Of The Beast‘and formed a new band, Warhorsewith which he launched their first album in July 2024.
