Rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Little Richard dies



The eccentric and charismatic Rock n’roll pioneer Little Richard died at 87Rolling Stone magazine reported on Saturday.

The pianist and composer, Creator of hits like “Tutti Frutti”, “Long Tall Sally” and “Good Golly Miss Molly”, among others, he marked an entire generation of artists, for his original style and his passion for performance. The interpreter’s son, Danny Penniman, was the one who confirmed the death to the magazine, since he said that the cause is still unknown.

Born on December 5, 1932, in Georgia, to a family of 12 siblings, his real name Richard Wayne Penniman retired from the stage in 2013, when he turned 80.

With his famous battle cry: “A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-a-wop-bam-boom”, Little Richard defied the norms of his time with a “queer” personality, which was reflected in his wardrobes and makeup, being inspiration for great artists who followed him like Prince.

Although he was never again on the top ten list after 1958, Little Richard’s influence was massive. The Beatles recorded several of his songs, including “Long Tall Sally”, recognizing in his figure one of the pioneers of rock n’roll. Little Richard is credited with shaping, along with Chuck Berry or Bo Diddley, that mix between blues and country that conquered the world.
