Rock musician Ainars Virga will celebrate his 60th anniversary with two concerts this year, producer Sandis Mohovikovs informed LETA agency.
The concert “Liepājnieks” will take place on April 6 at 7 p.m. in the Liepāja Olympic Center and on July 22 at 7 p.m. in the Dzintari concert hall in Jurmala.
The groups “Līvi” and “Liepājas brāhdi”, singers Igo and Olga Rajecka, musicians Tomas Klein, Modris Šterns, Guntars Račs and Uldis Marhilevičs, folklore ensemble “Strong Wives”, Durbes Chamber Choir and others will take part in the concerts.
The musician was born on April 6, 1964 in Liepaja and has been working in music since 1976. He was a member of such groups as “Vabolites”, “Corpus”, “Neptūns”, “Liepājas quartet”, “Līvi”, “Riga”, “Liepājas brāhdi” and “Virga Hard Orchestra”.
In April 2014, Virga’s first solo album “Songs about life and love” was released, which was recognized as the best metal and rock album of that year.
Also, Virga is the organizer and the author of the idea of the festival “Virga fest” and “Līvi fest”. He has written music for Liepāja theater play “Rocks” and the musical “Liepāja story”. With the group “Līvi” Virga participated in the performances of the rock opera “Kaupēn, mans mālīais” by Jānis Lūsēnas and Māras Zālītes in Liepāja theater.
In 2015, after a break of more than 20 years, Virga together with the singer “Alex”, Marhileviča and Gunta Vecgaili released the album “Riga in America” of the group “Riga”, which was recorded in the USA.
