Around 60,000 festival guests are expected to attend the “Rock im Park” this weekend in Nuremberg. Among them are numerous guests from all over the world – even from the “motherland of rock”.

Nuremberg – At the start on Friday there is anticipation of the wild music party in the open air. “We drove to Nuremberg from England in an old VW bus so we could be back at ‘Rock im Park’,” say Lydia and Benny, who live in the English county of Kent in the south-east of the country. Everything is “green and lovely” there. On the other hand, “rock and concrete” would rule around the Nuremberg Zeppelin Grandstand.

Brits love Rock im Park despite the concrete

“We were even told to set up our tent on the concrete,” says Lydia and laughs. “Fortunately we have an old VW campervan with us that we can sleep in,” says Benny, beaming from ear to ear as he raves about his rolling sweetheart from German production. In general, the British couple is totally infatuated with black, red and gold. The rocking Brits seem particularly taken with the area north and south of the white sausage equator.

A fuss about Rock im Park: expensive tickets and fewer visitors.

“We are total Bavaria fans.” In general and at the festival anyway, the people are “amazing”. The islanders are particularly impressed by the friendly and peaceful atmosphere in front of the gray backdrop of the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds. “Everyone gives us beer and is really really nice,” Lydia and Benny say happily and then move on. “We have to go shopping – replenish the supplies,” say the two and disappear into the ever-growing crowd of arriving festival guests.
