Rock fall on the two-bank panorama path: detour for hikers

After the rock fall near Thüngersheim, the two-bank country tourism association asked whether it was possible to hike on the two-bank panorama path. The section from Thüngersheim to Retzbach (stage 6a) is currently partially closed by the Thüngersheim community for security reasons, the tourism association informs in a press release. If you still want to hike from Thüngersheim to Retzbach, you can take the alternative route Thüngersheim-Retzstadt-Retzbach (stage 6/7).

This 18-kilometer alternative route leads through the Thüngersheim vineyards to the 387-meter-high Breitfeldhöhe with its all-round panoramic view and then down to the village of Retzstadt. From there it goes on to Retzbach.

For the two-bank panoramic path, marked in 2018, there has been a topographical hiking map with stage descriptions since summer 2020, which can be ordered from the tourist office or picked up in the town halls of the member communities and in the tourist information offices in Veitshöchheim and Zellingen. Hikers can find impressions of the stages on the website panoramaweg.zweiuferland.de and on the tourism association’s website in the hiking portal komoot.de.

Eight Lower Franconian communities to the right and left of the Main, a few kilometers north of Würzburg: Zell am Main, Veitshöchheim, Margetshöchheim, Erlabrunn, Leinach, Thüngersheim, Zellingen / Retzbach and Retzstadt belong to the tourism association Zwei-Ufer-Land. The two-bank panorama path connects the villages on a 54-kilometer route, mostly over the heights.
