Expressive Italian Quartet Moonlight to the Rotterdam Arena Ahoy the stages held a fiery performance in the aesthetics of Glemrock. The name of the group in Danish means Moonlight – it was once chosen because the ensemble’s bassist Victoria is half Danish. Moonlight in its Eurovision composition, it calls on us to be who we are, not to pretend and not pay attention to what others are saying about us.
Italy has been participating in Eurovision since its very first competition in 1956, and is one of the founding members of the event. The Eurovision Song Contest is modeled after the 1951 Sanremo Festival. This is Italy’s third victory in Eurovision and the first since 1990, when Toto Kutunjo picked the laurels with the song Together: 1992.
26 songs were played in the Eurovision final this year (Latvian representative Samanta Tīna, who started in the second semi-final on May 20, did not qualify for the final). The winner was determined by the vote of the spectators (50%) and the jury (50%). In Italy, the overall score was 524 points.
