We learned of the death of Mr. Gérard Kreicher, former mayor of Rochonvillers, on Monday March 8, at the age of 88.
Born August 1, 1932 in Rochonvillers, he took as his wife, Mr.me Simone née Thiriet, March 31, 1970.
From this union was born a daughter, Laurence, who gave them the joy of having two grandchildren, Mathys and Anaïs.
During his mandates, from March 1965 to December 1987, he undertook the modernization of the village, in particular the roads and public lighting. He had also launched the lagooning project, an avant-garde installation created by his successor.
Passionate about history and particularly those affecting Rochonvillers and the mining sector, he was a living memory, always ready to share his knowledge and skills.
Mr. Kreicher rests in the death chamber of Angevillers where the family receives from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The religious ceremony will take place Thursday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m., in the Rochonvillers church, followed by cremation at the Thionville funeral center.
