– The mouse has been brushed, says cat owner Julianne Stokkebæk Torp (57) laughingly to VG on Wednesday evening.
Robot vacuum cleaner Ludmilla normally runs its regular route at 11 in the morning, but a renovation project meant that Torp gave the vacuum cleaner a four-day break.
On Tuesday evening, there was suddenly a mysterious smell in the living room at home on the small farm in Trøgstad in Indre Østfold.
– “What kind of smell is that?”, I thought. I turned Ludmilla upside down and saw that there was some hair in her, says Torp.
Watch video of the mouse drama:
The small user’s first thought was that it could be a cat toy that had joined the suction.
– I saw there was something gray in there. But when I took off the cover over the brush I saw the muzzle and the whiskers…
In the depths of Ludmilla lay a flat-brushed mouse.
– The mouse has had a brush, then! But it was probably dead before it was dragged into Ludmilla, Torp believes.
Generous mouse catcher
Her theory is as follows:
– The mouse has probably been lying dead on the carpet, handed over by Python to the cat Gunnar. But Gunnar has not been home. Thus, the mouse has gone in Ludmilla’s way, she guesses.
Gamlepus Pyton (13) usually catches mice which he gives to the young cat Gunnar (2), according to the owner.
– Python is far too kind. He catches mice and takes them to his little brother. But little brother Gunnar has probably not been inside. Then Pyton puts the mouse down on the living room carpet, which has the same color as the mouse: Grey, explains Torp.
– When the robot vacuum cleaner Ludmilla came rolling, she probably didn’t see the mouse and just picked it up and brushed it under the brush. And there it sat, laughs Torp.
– How is the relationship between the cats and Ludmilla?
– It is very relaxed. They don’t move when Ludmilla comes driving and then Ludmilla drives around them.
– Where is the mouse now?
– It ended up in the rubbish and has been carried out in the can.
The price of the cat flap
There are enough mice to remove in the area, assures Torp. The small farm she and her husband live on is located in the countryside at the edge of the forest.
– But we only see the mice the cats drag in, she assures.
Suddenly Torp comes up with something:
– Gunnar last came in with a new mouse an hour ago. So hooray for cat hatches, she says gallows-humouredly.
– He is completely hopeless because if you throw him and the mouse out, he just walks around the house and comes back in the hatch with the same mouse.
For the rest of the evening, Torp will finish laughing and get to the hooks.
– It was my sister who thought VG needed to be tipped off. I have a big patch on my face today after removing a mole. But it’s going well, she assures.
– What does your husband say to the mouse drama?
– He just grins. This is a funny story, laughs Torp.
