At Tesla’s Giga Texas factory in Texas, near Austin, an engineer was attacked by a robot that malfunctioned at the time, the Daily Mail reports.
Eyewitnesses witnessed the horrifying moment their colleague was attacked by a robot designed to grab and move freshly cast aluminum car parts.
The robot crushed the man and scratched the worker’s back and arm with its metal claws, leaving “blood trails”, but the injuries were not too serious.
The engineer allegedly made a fatal mistake. While two of the robots meant to cut the aluminum parts were disabled so the engineer and his team could work on the machines, the third was accidentally left on, witnesses said. It should be noted that the event came to light after a long time, the incident took place in 2021.
According to a report by The Information, in 2022, nearly one in 21 workers at the Giga Texas plant was injured on the job, compared to an industry average of one in 30 workers.
