Robot Atlas runs and jumps onto scaffolding with full hands, without even breaking a sweat – Connect.cz

Engineers from Boston Dynamics showed off another amazing video of how they taught Atlas new tricks. In it, the humanoid robot shows that he could one day work on construction sites.

He lifts a scaffolding from the ground, which he bridges with stairs and scaffolding. He then gracefully runs over the stairs and the narrow bridge with a bag full of tools. He throws it a floor higher and then gets rid of the obstacle himself, from which he jumps off with a spectacular somersault, because that’s what every good bricklayer does.

In reality, of course, he is training to work in difficult terrain and to be able to cope with complex obstacles. It will come out of the labs one day and help in areas where it would be risky to send a human.

Orientation in space, understanding of surrounding objects and the level of acrobatics are a bit further. This time, the manufacturer also let us see into the kitchen, where we can see how the technicians and programmers of Atlas teach and how the robot perceives things around it using depth sensors.
