Roblox: Here’s why Spotify has launched its own island in the hit “Metaverse” game!

Spotify has decided to venture into the weird world of Roblox, launching an “interactive world” with plans to allow “artists to connect with fans”. Oh, and selling virtual products of course.

The aptly named Spotify Island sports the streaming service’s signature green hue, with musical objects scattered throughout and small platforming elements. Spotify explains that the main center is a place where friends can meet and exchange different beats on various stations. Collectibles, in the form of the “like” icon, will be scattered all over the place and can be exchanged for virtual goods to equip your little Roblox buddy.

There are also plans to create themed islands, which Spotify hopes will offer the possibility of virtual encounters, mini-quests and even virtual wares. The streaming service says a percentage of the profits from these virtual items will be donated directly to the artist, although it declined to reveal how much.

The first themed island in the works is devoted to all things K-Pop and will arrive later in the spring. It will feature artists Stray Kids and SUNMI, with Spotify saying it will “give fans the opportunity to interact” with the stars. The details, however, remain quite vague, without knowing the extent of these interactions or how they will work. Spotify Island made its debut today, if you fancy venturing into this unusual video game/music mashup.

Roblox remains one of those incomprehensible phenomena to anyone watching from the outside, despite being a juggernaut in the realm of video games. Its CEO, David Baszucki, is expected to make $234 million over the next five years, a considerable sum considering concerns over the megaplatform’s exploitation of young developers and the moderation of its collectibles market. .
