Robin Thicke has opened up about his spiraling painkillers and alcohol abuse after fame became too much for him to handle.
The 43-year-old singer said he struggled to cope with the “whirlwind of fame” that followed his hit song Blurred Lines in 2013.
Robin admitted “I was in a bad spot” at the time and that contributed to his marriage breakdown to actress Paula Patton.
Speaking to people, Robin said, “My marriage to Paula was falling apart. I started using pain relievers. It was a melting pot of brewing issues, and I was so cocky I thought I could handle it all. ”
Robin and Paula had been together for 21 years and were married for nine years before Paula filed for divorce in 2014.

He says his life got more difficult after Blurred Lines, which he produced with Pharrell Williams, hit the top of the charts.
Her fame became even more intense after an infamously steamy rendition of the song at the 2013 MTV VMAs, alongside Miley Cyrus.
Robin said: “It has been a whirlwind year of glory, and too much indulgence has come to a head. “
It also became a costly year, with Robin and Pharrell having to part ways with $ 5million to Marvin Gaye’s estate after copyright infringement was proven when Blurred Lines used the late 1977 hit singer Got. to Give It Up.
Robin admitted to abusing pills and alcohol during his testimony, after starting to take pain relievers for back pain caused by international flights.

Robin added, “You don’t realize you don’t have control.
“The fame and a lot of those things – they touched me. I was in a bad spot. I am happy to have closed this chapter. “
Robin’s awakening was the death of his actor father Alan Thicke and since then he has regained his life.
Robin is now enjoying family life with his fiancee April Love Geary, with their third child, Luca Patrick, born in December.
They already had daughters Mia Love, two, and Lola Alain, 21, and April captioned a photo of her new arrival: “My Luca Patrick, you are so perfect. Mom and dad love you so much. “
Robin also has a son Julian Fuego, 10, with his ex Paula.
The singer asked April to marry her on Christmas Eve 2018 and she was not shy about accepting the proposal.
She posted a photo of herself wearing the engagement ring as they stood in front of a Christmas tree, captioning it: “YES YES 1000x YES. “
