In addition to being both from Nancy, Robin Lauriac and Bastien Scherer have at least one other point in common: they have their sights set on the European U18 championships. However, for the two young volleyball players to be able to taste it next summer in the tricolor jersey, they will have to go through a new qualifying tournament in April.
Robin Lauriac (Grand Nancy VB/Pôle France de Montpellier) and Bastien Scherer (Pont-à-Mousson/Pôle Espoirs de Strasbourg) both took part in the preparation camp for the French team led by Slimane Belmadi, during the holidays of Christmas. In the process, Robin Lauriac took part in the WEVZA competition in Italy, Bastien Scherer having been forced to forfeit at the last moment.
Unfortunately for the Nancy smuggler, the tricolor selection, after winning the first four matches of the tournament, was beaten in the final by Belgium (3-1). A defeat which deprived the blueberries of a direct qualification for the European championship of the category and will therefore force them to try their luck again in the spring.
Needless to say that Robin Lauriac and Bastien Scherer intend to be part of the adventure…
