Robin Gosens writes about his experiences as a professional footballer in his new book. He reveals a failed jersey exchange attempt with CR7.
National player Robin Gosens has revealed an embarrassing encounter with Cristiano Ronaldo in his new book “Dreaming is worth it – my somewhat different path to becoming a professional footballer”. The trigger was Gosen’s desire to swap jerseys with the Juventus superstar following a 3-0 win in the Coppa Italia against the Bianconeri 2019.
“After the game against Juve, I tried to fulfill another dream and pick up the CR7 jersey. That would have been an absolute highlight in my collection,” writes Gosens. “After the final whistle, I immediately got on my socks with him and thereby failed to attend the cheering crowd, which was rightly formed – priorities have to be set, friends. CR7, however, didn’t feel like me at all.”
Robin Gosens: “I was just shaved off the plate once”

I ran, at least I think , completely red and even ashamed for a brief moment. I had just been shaved off the plate, felt tiny with a hat. Do you know that moment when something incredibly embarrassing happens and you look around to see if someone might notice That’s how I felt and tried to smoothly cover up the situation. It didn’t matter, after all, we had just thrown Juve out of the cup. “
However, Gosens has not yet given up the dream of adding a jersey from the five-time world footballer to his collection: “Maybe I actually just pissed him off. That’s why Cristiano: If you want to make a young man happy later, the address of the club reads: Corso Europa 46, 24040 Ciserano. Greetings, “writes the 26-year-old.
