Roberto Vecchioni Announces the Tragic Death of his Son Arrigo

After so much painour wonderful Arrigo finally at peace. The family asks for silence.

With these words, published on the singer-songwriter’s social profiles, Roberto Vecchioni announces the sad news of the death of his son Arrigo.

Arrigo was the third of Vecchioni’s four childrenthe second from his second wife Daria Colombo and was 36 years old.

Subsequently, in 1981, he married Daria Colombo, with whom he had three other children: Carolina, Arrigo – whose death was announced today by the family – and Edoardowho two years ago, in a novel, had recounted his experience with the disease, the multiple sclerosis.

Vecchioni, which will be completed on 25 June 80 years old, has dedicated some of his songs to his children. In 2016 she released the album Songs for children, which contained, among other things Canzone da distant, a lullaby written for Francesca, taken from the album Montecristo, a recited version of Son son son and one with a new arrangement of Un lungo addio, dedicated to Carolina. Instead, Vecchioni dedicated the song Le rose blu to Edoardo.

In several interviews, the singer-songwriter spoke about his own relationship with childrenarguing that life without children would be like a desert for him. Interviewed by the Courierhe told them like this: The only little drama of my children is the imitative sense of the father. They feel like artists, a little out of this world, with literary ambitions. Perhaps my fault: I made them dream too much, I gave too little of reality. But the reality is that there is a need to deal with life, with people, with work.
