Roma –
Robert Mancini threatened with prosecution from FIGC after leaving as coach Italian national team. He is considered to have violated the contract agreement.
Mancini decided to resign from his position as coach of the Italian national team. In fact, Mancini is still under contract until 2026. He is also targeted to pass the Gli Azzurri to Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.
The former Inter Milan coach then decided to become a coach of Saudi Arabia. There was criticism from the Italian public regarding this decision with Mancini being considered a moneylender. He was under contract for four years by the Green Falcons and paid up to 30 million euros per year.
In addition to criticism from the Italian public, Mancini is now also threatened with lawsuits from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). Quoted from Calciomercato, Mancini reportedly violated the contract agreement with the FIGC because he withdrew before the targets assigned to him were met.
This happened because Italy has not yet qualified for the 2024 European Cup and the 2026 World Cup. La Nazionale previously also failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
Mancini is said to be prepared to pay compensation if the FIGC files a lawsuit in this regard. The FIGC has yet to make formal demands for Mancini. But do not rule out the steps they will take.
In the contract between the FIGC and Mancini, it is reported that there is an agreement which states that the party that terminates the contract unilaterally must pay compensation. If the FIGC terminates Mancini’s contract early, they will be required to pay him a salary of 4.5 million euros per year for one year plus compensation for any losses incurred.
