Roberto López had a competitive test in Ilopango and is ready to travel to the pre-Olympic – – 2024-03-03 21:55:00

Roberto Carlos López competed today in the 2024 Promotional Regatta and Competitive Test, which took place in Lake Ilopango, which was one more checkup prior to his participation in the pre-Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

López will be the only Salvadoran representative in the Americas Continental Qualification Regatta, which will take place from March 14 to 17.

The Salvadoran explained that he will travel with coach Yuri Calderón next Friday, March 8 with the mission of sealing the ticket.

“This event is like a Pan American event and there are five direct places to qualify and the idea is to be among the best seven, at least, to be able to aspire to qualify through a relocation of places. I know that the rivals are strong but I have faith that it can be achieved and we are going to fight in every row,” explained the rower.

Roberto López will seek qualification for his second Olympic Games after London 2012.

“I am very happy to have the opportunity to be selected for this event, thanks to the effort made and the idea is to demonstrate the preparation we have had. “We are fortunate to have two institutions that look after the sport and we have had what is necessary and fair to be able to compete,” he said.

In today’s regatta, López completed the 2,000 meter circuit in a time of 7:40 minutes.

“We faced the first evaluation scheduled in the competition calendar, it was a 2,000-meter training competition simulation and it helped us improve. I did a time of 7:40 minutes which is acceptable for the season we are in and I think we have time to continue refining,” he commented.
