Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters, the pop group with presenter Erik van der Hoff that broke up in 1989, is going on tour. During the shows, the band plays hits from the eighties and the band members reminisce with each other.
“For years it was a recurring question: are we going on tour, yes or no?”, says Van der Hoff. “Now the time has come when we can no longer resist the demand. We are going to do it.”
The tour starts on November 2 in Bergeijk and will conclude in April 2024 in Purmerend. Ticket sales started Tuesday afternoon.
The group, which was discovered by Angela Groothuizen, had its heyday in the eighties. The band consisted of five high school students who quickly became teen idols.
The most famous hit of Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters is I Save The Day. In 1984, that number was high in the Top 40 for almost four months.
The group received several awards, including a Silver Harp. Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters broke up in 1989. The main reason was Van der Hoff’s television career, who is known for, among other things The block. The band members came together sporadically in the following years for occasional performances, including for De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE.
