Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi is forging a reputation as a Premier League giant-slayer after beating Chelsea twice this season as well as Arsenal and Liverpool in cup matches.
De Zerbi’s Brighton stunned Chelsea on Saturday, earning a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
It was the second time the ex-Sassuolo tactician has beaten the Blues this season. The first time was in October when the Seagulls secured a 4-1 victory over ex-manager Graham Potter who had been appointed by the Blues just a month earlier.
Chelsea aren’t the only illustrious victim of De Zerbi this season. The Italian tactician also beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and secured a place in the FA Cup semi-finals by beating Liverpool in the quarter-finals.
His Brighton side are in the running for a Champions League placement, being seven points below third place in the Premier League with one game less.
De Zerbi was appointed by Brighton in September, signing a four-year contract to replace Potter.
The Italian tactician has a €13m clause included in his contract and despite rumors linking him with a return to Serie A, Sky Sport Italia recently claimed the 43-year-old wants to stay in the Premier League next season.
