Corinthians will experience, at the end of 2023, another period of presidential elections at the club. The current president, Duilio Monteiro Alves, cannot be re-elected according to the club’s statute, and football director Roberto de Andrade commented on the brief future of the Renovação & Transparência ticket.
“No! It’s not legal to change the statute to favor someone”, replied the Football Director in an interview in the mixed zone of the Neo Química Arena, after a 3-0 victory against Mirassol, when asked about a possible extension of Duilio Monteiro’s mandate Alves, which would require a change in the club’s bylaws,
The Renovação & Transparência ticket has been in power at Corinthians since 2007, with Andrés Sanchez (two terms), Mário Gobbi, Roberto de Andrade and now Duilio Monteiro Alves as presidents during this period. The next candidate, for now, should be André Luiz, André Negão.
“For now, it seems so (André Luiz, Negão, is the candidate). Nothing is set yet, it’s February and the election is only in December, so there’s a lot to happen. But, from what I hear , it seems so”, revealed the director of football.
André Negão is the current president of the Deliberative Council of Corinthians, also assuming the Ethics and Discipline Commission of the club and a chair in the Orientation Council (Cori). Former advisor to the club, partner of Andrés Sanchez for a long time, André has already been involved in controversy with the Corinthians fans when he defined a “true fan”,
