Roberto Cavalli died, the designer was 83 years old

The stylist Roberto Cavalli he died at Firenze at the age of 83 after a long illness. He leaves behind six children, including the youngest Giorgio, just over a year old. Next to him in the last hours, as in the last fifteen years, his partner Sandra.

Great artistic but also entrepreneurial talent, Cavalli came out with the first collection under his own name in 1970, al Salon du Pret-a’-Porter Paris. Door to the catwalks of White Hall of the Pitti Palaceand then on those of Milan Collections, its collections. In 1972 he opened his own prima boutique in Saint-Tropez. He quickly became famous throughout the world, especially for his animalier looks: it is no coincidence that the New York Times crowned him the king of “animalistic” clothes. His denim collections are also famous, as are his sumptuous red carpet dresses. And again the pharaonic parties in his villa Firenze, the jet set, major international events. As well as new brands, such as Just Cavallilaunched at the end of the 90s: men’s and women’s clothing, but also accessories, sunglasses, watches, perfumes, underwear and swimsuits. In 2015 the designer sold his historic maisonsold to an investment fund, and shortly afterwards he also left the role of creative director of the brand.
