The Spaniard lost their last three meetings on tour, including their debut at Wimbledon. Undoubtedly, this absence at the US Open is hard for Bautista, who has played in the main draw of that Grand Slam since 2013. What’s more: in the two years prior to the aforementioned he also played but in the qualy, a phase that he could not overcome.
Bautista had the best performances in the hot cement of New York having reached the round of 16 twice. In 2014 he lost to Swiss Roger Federer in three sets and in 2015 he was bested by Serbian Novak Djokovic in four sets.
In 2023, the Spaniard only played one final on the big circuit, lost in Adelaide II. He seeks to recover to return as soon as possible, with the illusion of the Davis Cup in his country.
