EL NUEVO DIARIO, BOSTON.- The knee injury suffered by Robert Williams at the end of last March continues to represent a problem for the big man of the Boston Celtics, who will undergo arthroscopic surgery with the aim of completely repairing his area and leave behind possible relapses.
According to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, the recovery period is expected to vary between four and six weeks. Therefore, Williams will miss the entire Celtics retirement and preseason, while his participation in the first game of the season is in doubt. However, the coaching staff remain confident that he will be available for the opening night.
The center initially underwent knee surgery in March after suffering a ruptured meniscus. The player was able to return to the field less than a month later, but had discomfort during the playoffs, forcing him to miss seven games and averaging only 23.2 minutes in the 17 games played.
Williams has established himself as one of the team’s main defensive strongholds, one of the NBA’s most promising interns, and a strong candidate to pick up the Defensive Player of the Year award sooner rather than later. The Celtics shared last August that there are no real long-term concerns about the player’s knee problems. Even so, they will be as cautious and patient as necessary to avoid greater evils
