Since the derby win against 1. FC Nürnberg (2:1) the Fürther Kleeblatt had to be patient until there was finally another threesome on Friday evening. The jubilation was correspondingly great after five unsuccessful attempts – not least because of the dramatic realization of the 2:1 success. Having fallen behind in the first half, Robert Wagner equalized shortly after the break before scoring a brace to win with the last shot of the game in the 90th + 5th minute.

He also attributed the fact that the youngster was able to ponder this joyful question to the discussion between the team and the coaching staff before the game against FCK after the fifth game without a win in a row. “We talked about a few things during the week that can’t continue like this,” said the midfielder, who emphasized: “In a phase like this, it’s important to stand together as a team. Moments like this are part of it.”
The solidarity was subsequently confirmed by coach Alexander Zorniger, who said his protégés were “astonishingly open” to his words. He was less open when asked which side initiated the conversation. “I don’t know what role it plays,” the 56-year-old said before adding: “It’s irrelevant.”
