died at 58 James Redford, the eldest son of Robert Redford, after two years of fighting cancer. To break the news his wife Kylie with a Twitter post full of love: James died today, we are heartbroken. He lived a beautiful and incisive life and was loved by many. We will miss him deeply. Like his wife for 32 years, I am especially grateful to him for the two spectacular children we have raised together. I don’t know how we would have done without them for the past two years.
James was an acclaimed documentarian, screenwriter and director of films such as “Resilience” and was president of the Redford Center, founded with his father in 2005 to produce documentaries of social and environmental denunciation and train young filmmakers on the theme of climate change.

Born in 1962 by Redford e by his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen, Jamie has two younger brothers, Amy Redford and Shauna Redford. The older brother, Scott, died in 1959 a few months old from lethal infantile syndrome (what were once called white deaths). So not the first time the Hollywood star has faced the loss of a child. Even if the situations are certainly not comparable.
In 1993 James Redford underwent liver transplant twice. An experience that he recounted in a documentary, “The Strangers”, dedicated to the life of transplant recipients and which led him to commit himself personally to talk about organ donation and provide information on the subject.
The last battle he had shared with his father it had been the one against Covid deniers and Donald Trump’s misinformation. Together they had signed an article (and produced several videos) for NBC entitled “The Cost of President Trump’s Failed Leadership.” As the pandemic began its global march, President Donald Trump failed to act in a way. quick and decisive, probably thinking more of his interests and harming us all.
