The Last Generation is an organization of climate activists operating, among others, in Germany, Austria and Italy. The movement also brings together activists from Poland. In recent weeks, it has become loud due to the action in Warsaw. Activists threw paint at the Mermaid Monument on the Vistula River. On Monday (March 15), they blocked two bridges in the capital. The same group is also responsible for disrupting a performance at the National Philharmonic. -Â This is an alarm. Our world is burning. We are the last generation that can stop the climate catastrophe. We demand radical investments in public transport. Climate activist Dominika Lasota in the Mazurka program. There was a tension
On Wednesday (April 17), the group’s representative Dominika Lasota was a guest on Robert Mazurek’s program on RMF FM. The conversation focused on the recent protest actions of activists. – Civil disobedience is one of the forms of protest to which we have the right (…). These people (blocking bridges – ed.) do not do it for pleasure, these people do it out of terror – explained Lasota. The journalist quoted the verdict of the Munich court. In November 2023, a final judgment was issued in which the Last Generation group was classified as an organized criminal group.
-Â I think that in history we have examples of how various social movements were at one time considered terrorists, and then after some time… we have, at least Martin Luther King, whom we now praise – the activist replied.
