A sure shot, Rummenigge caught up
It was 71 minutes when Joshua Guilavogiu ruthlessly stopped Bayern midfielder Michael Cuisance in the penalty box. The referee immediately threw the Wolfsburg player, giving him a second yellow and consequently a red card, and then pointed to the eleventh meter. Who could shoot? Lewandowski only.
The Pole did not miss the opportunity. He ran towards the ball in his style, then slowed down and gave the goalkeeper no chance. Resigned Casteels just lowered his head. It was 3: 0 for Bayern.
“Lewy” scored his 34th goal in the Bundesliga’s finished season – he has never hit the net as often. It is also his fifth title of top scorer.
This is not all. Lewandowski caught up with the legend and also the current president of the Bayern supervisory board. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and “Lewy” have 162 league goals scored each for Munich. Rummenigge needed 310 matches to score the above goals. 190 matches were enough for Lewandowski.
Bayern won with Wolfsburg 4-0 and sealed his dominance in the national arena. Two lines ago the team from Munich won the eighth consecutive German championship.
