Hamburg (AP) – Center forward Robert Glatzel stays with Hamburger SV. The club announced on Monday that the 29-year-old has extended his contract until June 30, 2027. First, the “Hamburger Abendblatt” reported about it. The original contract ran until the end of the 2024/25 season. The attacker could have left the club for a fixed transfer fee.
“Although we unfortunately missed our big goal in the last two years, I had by far the happiest time in my career so far. I’ve never felt so comfortable at a club,” Glatzel was quoted as saying in a club statement.
In the past season, the 29-year-old scored 19 goals for HSV as the second-best goalscorer in the 2nd Bundesliga, and he also prepared a further seven goals. But even the actions of the attacker did not prevent HSV from finishing third in the final and clearly failing in the relegation at VfB Stuttgart. Now he should help ensure that Hamburg’s promotion back to the Bundesliga succeeds at the sixth attempt.
“Bobby is a very important player for our team, not only because of the many goals he has scored for HSV in the past two years and will continue to score in the future,” said HSV sports director Jonas Boldt.
