Robert Fyfe: “Last of the Summer Wine” actor, dies at 90

Robert Fyfe, the actor who played Howard in the comedy “Last of the Summer Wine,” died at the age of 90, just weeks after his wife also passed away.

The Scottish actor, who hailed from Kirkcaldy, Fife, was known for playing Pearl Sibshaw’s shy and downtrodden husband on screen from 1985, until the cancellation of the beloved show on the show. BBCin 2010.

Fyfe’s death was confirmed to the PA news agency and the Curtis Brown talent agency on Wednesday night.

Maxine Hoffman, a 90-year-old manager, told the BBC that he was “the most charming client anyone could wish for” and added that he was “a truly talented, versatile actor, well loved by everyone he worked with.”

Morris Bright, President of Elstree Studios, where I know filmed episodes of “Last of the Summer Wine”, paid tribute to the actor describing him as “the most lovable people.”

“It’s sad to hear that Robert Fyfe, has passed away at the age of 90. Most adorable people, we shared very happy moments on site for Last of the Summer Wine in the late 1990s,” Bright wrote on Twitter.

Fyfe’s first television role came in 1962 in the “Dr. Finlay “and appeared later in his career on” Coronation Street “and in the film” Cloud Atlas. “

Juliette Kaplan, who played Pearl Sibshaw on the show, died in October 2019 of cancer, while Fergusson, who played Marina, died in November of that year.
